Digging out!

We had about 12in. of snow! Not so much really in comparison to what New York got last week, 12ft., but with the way the wind blew it drifted like crazy. We had 3 and 4 foot drifts everywhere. Schools have been cancelled 3 days in a row now. We got going this morning and Shannon headed out to clear the driveway. Problem one, he couldn't even get the truck out of the garage if he wanted. Problem two, the small tractor and bucket wasn't able to move the snow, too deep! Problem three, he had to find a way to get to the road and the drifted snow. First he tried going through the backyard, back up too deep! The entire driveway was packed so he finally had to go through the field down a ways across from a neighbors house to a place he could get to the road. Shannon headed to town to hook on the snow blower. A couple hours later he's back to fill the tractor with fuel and back to town to clean up our parent's drives,(along with several other friends and other that needed help, he's so kind hearted) ours was left till last because we had no place we had to go anyhow. The kids and I played out a little. Aden loved it!! After Shannon got back to do ours and Gracie went down for her nap Aden and I went out to shovel out behind the garage doors where the snow blower couldn't get close enough. Aden had fun climbing all over the 5 and 6 foot piles from where Shannon had moved the snow. Then Shannon and Aden headed back to town to clean up the car dealership, the implement store and the storage building lots. After Gracie woke from her nap her and I headed down to play in the snow with Amy and Olivia. Shannon and Aden got back a few hours later and we ran back into town to pick up the pizza's I had ordered for Shannon for Valentine's Day from Chicago. We've been dying to try this Chicago style pizza ever since we saw it on the Food Network so as a Valentine surprise I had some shipped in. It was delayed due to the weather and the UPS truck wouldn't even bring it out to our house because of the roads and left them for us to pick up at the implement store. We came home and baked our pizzas! They were everything we had hoped for and Shannon loved his surprise(even though he says he doesn't like surprises)! It was a fun-filled day for everyone!
